” I can’t believe its 11.5%. It’s so hard to remember what it was like then even though it was only a few months ago. You really have made a huge difference. If you had told me how different I would feel back at the start (actually I think you did) I wouldn’t have believed you. Today I actually felt annoyed that I COULDN’T go to the gym. I only joined this gym because you are here. You have made more progress with my back and it’s rehabilitation in these short weeks than there has been in the last few years.
Not only have you changed my body, you’ve spoke so much truth and sense and changed my mindset about my body image and how I feel about myself! Its been so much fun doing training with you, I used gym equipment I have never used before and we did so many exercises which were challenging but fun at the same time! You pushed me and encouraged me at every session and it was so motivating. Definitely looking forward to begin training when I’m back in Glasgow. You’re great! Thannnnnks Laura! ooooh and you’re super honest and understanding! And patient with me taking ages to do burpees!

[....] I found working with Laura and Total Effect Exercise an enjoyable experience, and I have definitely seen results. My fitness levels are up and I feel good in myself, no longer tired during the day and able to run for the train if I think I’m going to miss it! I really enjoy going to the gym now, I have focus, I am well on my way to achieving my goals and I’m even in training for a half marathon now….I’d thoroughly recommend Laura and Total Effect Exercise. You’ll get all the support you need, especially if you’re new to the gym like I was, but it is also clear the knowledge and experience is there to help those who are more familiar with exercise… You WILL be able to achieve your goals with the help of Total Effect Exercise, and at the same time, have fun!!

I found Total Effects Exercise by chance on the web. I e-mailed and received a reply the same day arranging a free consultation at which I felt so positive and encouraged that I booked a block of 10 sessions and received 2 free. I have since booked a second block of sessions. I was encouraged and pushed to my limit but never beyond. As I preferred not to go to a gymn, the sessions were arranged in my home or at a local park where the emphasis was based on my requirements ie improved fitness and toning. Laura is friendly and encouraging and is knowledgeable about diet, exercise and sport injuries. Most importantly for me, Laura makes the exercise sessions fun although at the end I know I’ve had a very productive session. I would have no hesitation in recommending Total Effects to anyone.
1/6/11 Carolyn – Couples wedding package Gym sessions April – present
I really enjoyed our first block and feel my fitness and stamina have improved as well as it helping weight loss too! I’ve enjoyed the variety within each session and have now tried things like boxing and kettle bells which I’ve never done before and now actually really enjoy and would keep up long term. I’m now always aware of my effort levels to ensure I push myself as much as I can. I’ve pushed myself further than I would have if I’d been working out alone and am so grateful that as a result I managed to complete the 10k – something I would have struggled to do on my own. I enjoy the interval training we do on the treadmill as I feel it takes the boredom out of just running which always put me off the treadmill in the past and I feel the benefit of doing intervals on the cross trainer and rowing machine as well – something I hated in the past!

“Laura has been my personal trainer for nearly 5 months and I’ve recently arranged another set of 12 sessions because of the great improvement I’ve seen in my fitness. Laura encouraged me to set goals for my health and fitness and has been a huge help to me to achieve those goals. I can recommend Laura as a personal trainer because she’s very knowledgable in all areas of health and fitness, she is very motivated and knows how to motivate others and she makes all sessions challenging yet enjoyable”
4/10/11 – Charlie – gym programme – current
When i joined the gym a few months back I was hoping to lose a few pounds due to my daughters wedding which was happening in September . I met Laura who was very helpful in helping me achieve my goal of losing a stone in nine weeks . Perhaps a tad ambitious but the programme she set out for me was excellent incorporating cardio excercises with abs workouts . I cant say it was easy as I was probably doing 5 or 6 sessions a week,but after eight hard weeks I reached my goal +lost 2 extra pounds .I dropped a waist size and lost 4 inches from my chest which resulted in me having to be remeasured for my kilt ! Although it was hard work with a lot of encouragement from Laura the results were well worth the effort Thanks Laura. – Charlie followed the programme I gave him and also some healthy eating recommendations. He put the work in and gained the results he wanted, proving that a bit of hard work and a good plan helps a lot!!

I really enjoyed working with Laura and Total Effect. I play football and my goal was to improve on endurance and also increase strength on my core. Over the block Laura continuously changed the sessions so that every week I was doing something different and it made the sessions fun. She taught me how to get amazing results using kettlebells for cardio and toning, I can now play a game for 90 min without tiring as before I was only able to do 30/40 mins. I am so grateful to Laura and Total Effect Exercise for making me feel so good about myself and look forward to using them again in the new year for strength training.
Tuesday Boxing Class Reviews
Tuesday night’s boxing class is superb. I’ve been taking part for almost a year and have made sure I’ve only missed a handful of classes. The range of exercise and skills crammed in to each class is spot on and in the year I’ve been attending the classes they’ve helped me to a weight loss of almost two stone. Taking part in the boxing classes alongside my own training programme has given my fitness in general a massive boost. Laura’s coaching is first class as she manages to get the maximum effort from everyone without overdoing it. She knows that you can exercise properly whilst still having fun and enjoying it. The only downside to the class is that there aren’t more of them in a week. – Nicky 14/10/11
I like taking part in the Boxing Class on a Tuesday night as its something different from the other stuff I do. We do a different area of the body each week which always keep me interested and Laura always varries the exercises up so I never get bored. It was legs last Tuesday which is always Fun NOT!!!! I always come out the class feeling that I have really worked and Laura has pushed me to my max. Since starting the classes I have progressed week on week with both the boxing technique and also my general fitness. I will defo be keeping the classes going. – Laura C 14/10/11
